Starke Agency announces the addition of Bobby Barnes as Director of Sales and Marketing. Bobby, a 29-year veteran in the insurance industry, comes to us after most recently working as Client Advocate/Account Executive for Willis Towers Watson. He has previously worked in both local and private agencies, including Starke Agency itself, and publicly traded regional and global brokerage companies. His experience has included Production, Marketing, Global and National Account management, and Office management.

Bobby will be leading a team of 6 Commercial Account Advisors and 7 Risk Consultants as we work through risk management and cost-effective strategies for our corporate customers. Lastly, he will assist in the hiring, development, and growth of new Risk Consultants as we continue to grow organically.”
Bobby graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Accounting. He later earned his CPA certification while working for Ernst & Young. He and his wife Susan have two children: Trey, 33 and Scott, 30. They attend ChristChurch in Montgomery, Alabama.

Lynn Beshear will be the guest speaker at the Capital Rotary Club on August 16. Beshear was appointed commissioner of the Alabama Department of Mental Health on July 10, 2017. She began her career as a staff nurse in the Intensive Care Nursery at Duke University Medical Center, met her husband Bob Beshear, who was a pediatric intern. She became the head nurse in the Well-Baby Nursery the following year. They moved to Kentucky in 1972, and after moving to Montgomery in 1978, Commissioner Beshear’s focus turned to making a difference in the lives of the citizens of central Alabama. She has served on the boards of directors of several groups and councils to include, but not limited to: Montgomery Academy; the Montgomery Ballet; Medical Spouses Alliance; First United Methodist Church; United Way; Success by Six; American Heart Association; Junior League Advisory Board; Kid One Transport; Helping Montgomery Families Initiative; the Joint Public Charity Hospital Board; Montgomery Metro YMCA Board; Medical AIDS Outreach Advisory Board; and the Board of Directors of Hope Inspired Ministries.
Palomar Insurance recently welcomed three new associates to its agency. Paul Cobb has joined the company as Vice President of Employee Benefits. Paul joins Palomar’s growing Employee Benefits practice that offers solutions for a variety of companies and industries of varying sizes. Prior to joining Palomar, Paul was with a local agency where he gained extensive knowledge of group insurance, retirement plans, employee benefits, and more from the nation’s leading carriers. He also has over 20 years of experience in the construction industry. Paul is a member of the Greater Montgomery Home Builders’ Association, the Montgomery and Prattville Chambers of Commerce, the Society of Human Resources Managers (SHRM), and is actively involved in the League of Municipalities and Alabama Association of Public Personnel Administrators (AAPPA).
Evan Strother to their expanding sales team as an Account Executive. Evan brings an extensive experience to the company, working as an underwriter for Auto-Owners insurance prior to joining Palomar. Evan is skilled in assessing customer needs and providing solutions to his clients that offer the best value. Evan is licensed in Property & Casualty Insurance in Alabama and specializes in the transportation, agriculture and construction industries. Originally from Troy, AL, Evan graduated from Auburn University.
Wesley Johnson recently joined Palomar Insurance as a Production Assistant specializing in the trucking, transportation and construction industries where he provides professional assistance to producers/brokers. An avid outdoorsman, Wesley is a member of the Alabama High School Rodeo Association, Professional Cowboys Association and Alabama Cattleman’s Association, and he will be actively involved in the Alabama Trucking Association and Greater Montgomery Home Builders Association by way of Palomar’s membership. “We are thrilled to welcome Paul, Evan and Wesley to our team,” said Tony Craft, President and CEO of Palomar. “I believe these fine professionals will focus on providing clear, understandable, tailored options for our clients that will serve them well for years to come.”
