September 18 - The Elmore County Democratic Committee will hold its Monthly Meeting on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at the Millbrook Community Center, 3170 Park Circle - Grandview Road and Main Street.
September 20 - Alabama Nature Center will host their annual Good Ole Days celebration on Saturday, September 20th. Enjoy lectures and demonstrations on cane pole fishing, beekeeping, heirloom gardening and more. Good 'Ole Days activities will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Enjoy the naturte trails from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Call 334-285-4550 for more information.
September 20 - Next Dimension Gymnastics will celebrate National Gymnastics Day Saturday, September 20, 10am - 2:30 pm Village Green Park, Main Street, Millbrook. The public is invited to join in the celebration, enjoy games, obstacle courses, dance and gymnastic exhibitions, arts and crafts and a silent auction while raising funds for Children's Miracle Network and the Right to Play Foundation. September 26 - Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce Clay Shooting Team entry $400, individual $100. Awards for 1st place team and individual, 12 stations/100 targets, lunch provided, rental shotguns, golf carts available, shells available for purchase. Contact Chamber office 334-285-0085 for more.
September 27 - Drop off unwanted items, garbage and refuse at Millbrook City Hall Saturday, September 27, 2014 7am – 12noon. Items not accepted include appliances, paint, batteries, oils, gases, tree limbs longer than 4 feet and more than 6 inches in diameter. Sponsored by Waste Management and the City of Millbrook
September 27 - The Elmore County EMA/Homeland Security will hold its annual Preparedness Fair at the Wetumpka Lowes (Hwy 231) from 10 am – 1 pm.
September 30 - Chartlon Place Rehabilitation and Healthcare is sponsoring a women's senior pageant to showcase senior ladies with in the community who are still young at heart. Our seniors are a vital part of who we are today and we want to thank them for all they have done. Twenty participants are needed. This event will be held at Chartlon Place Rehabilitation and Healthcare starting at 6:00 p.m. This event is free and all sponsors will be recognized at this event. October 2 – Women in Business Net Lunch, hosted by Millbrook-Area Chamber of Commerce. 11:30am – 1pm. Chamber member registration is only $15.00, non-members $20.00 and closes on Monday, September 29. You can register with a credit card through PayPal.
October 3 - The Millbrook-Coosada Kiwanis Club will present Nashville recording artists 3 Lanes Crossing at the Millbrook civic Center. Doors open at 6pm, concert at 7pm. For tickets call 334-285-1623. Proceeds benefit local youth.
October 11 - The 22nd annual Alabama Cotton Festival will be held Saturday, October 11, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. in downtown Eclectic. The event will feature live music from The Springs, the Josh Brannon Band and more. There will also be a free Kid's Zone, a Sweet Treats Contest, a Classic/Antique Car Show, the Alabama Cotton Queen Pageant, the Alabama Rook Tournament and much more! Second and Fourth Tuesdays - The Millbrook City Council meets in the Municipal Courtroom The City Council meets the second or fourth Tuesday of each month in the Judicial Complex located at 3821 Grandview Road at 6:00 p.m. Work session normally begins at 5:30 p.m. Meeting updates will be posted here as they become available.
Second and Fourth Thursdays - The Millbrook Men's Club meets the second and fourth Thursday of each month at the Millbrook Memorial Center (behind Millbrook Library on Grandview Road). The club is open to interested men who live in the Millbrook area. The club raises money through a pair of annual barbecues to support local park improvements, city ammenities, youth scholarships, scouting troops and other improvements in Millbrook. The club meets for social time at 6:30pm with the business meeting at 7pm.
Thursdays - The Elmore County Extension Offices offers FREE Basic Parenting lessons each Thursday from 1p,-2:30pm. Program covers child development, protective factors, appropriate discipline, communication, and stress management. Hello folk's. We had a quite a few upsets this past weekend, and I am sure more will come this week. I must admit, I was one of those who jumped on the Georgia bandwagon about the Bulldogs being such a good team. Well, maybe they are not that great but still a good team. Georgia, USC, Va. Tech and Louisville all lost. As expected Bama steamrolled over So. Miss and Auburn had the week off.Read more...
Students at Coosada Elementary School check out the new turf on their recess area made of recycled tires. The costly project ($38,000) was made possible thanks to a grant from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management’s Alabama Scrap Tire Fund.
