For the past several weeks, there has been tremendous activity on the corner lot at Oak Tree Road and Highway 14, the site of the Millbrook Civitan Club's Christmas tree lot.
"Up until last Tuesday, preparations had been going extremely well," said Brenda Kelley who chairs the event. "During Monday night, rain started falling and didn't quit until late Tuesday night. Our trees were delivered late Monday and had to be unloaded immediately," Kelley added.
Several Civitan Club volunteers, SEHS Jr. Civitan Club members, friends and family members and community supporters jumped in to help during the cold, rainy and windy day. All the trees had been freshly cut in Michigan and many were still covered with snow. Kelley stated over 100 trees were displayed on the lot and the remainder were placed in the tent.
This is the second annual Christmas tree sales event sponsored by the Millbrook Civitan Club and has proven to be one of their most successful fund raisers. All profits from the event are placed back into the community through the many service projects adopted by Millbrook Civitans.
"Tuesday's struggles quickly faded when the lot opened on Friday morning. The day was crisp, sunny and absolutely beautiful and customers kept our volunteers busy all day," Kelley said. "Mark and Tina Barber proudly purchased the first tree of the season early Friday," she added.
Displayed on the lot are Douglas Firs, Black Hill Spruce, Scotch Pines and Fraser Firs.
All the trees are premium grade with some of the Fraser's measuring up to 11 feet. If you're in the market for a beautiful tree this Christmas season, be sure and visit the Christmas tree sales lot staffed by the Millbrook Civitan Club. The lot is open Monday through Friday late afternoons/early evenings; Saturdays from 10 until 6 p.m. and Sundays from 1 until 6 p.m.

I must admit, I was one of those who jumped on the Georgia bandwagon about the Bulldogs being such a good team. Well, maybe they are not that great but still a good team. Georgia, USC, Va. Tech and Louisville all lost. As expected Bama steamrolled over So. Miss and Auburn had the week off.Read more...
