With heavy hearts the church family of Goodship Missionary Baptist Church bids farewell this week to Pastor M.H. Parker. Parker died on Friday, December 13, 2014 at Baptist Medical Center. He served as Senior Pastor at the church for nearly 35 years.
Willie Mae Duncan, a longtime member of the church said that Pastor Parker is gone but will 'never' be forgotten.
"As we bid farewell to our loving Pastor Parker we honor the legacy he leaves behind. He was a wonderful husband, loving father and grandfather who loved and cared very deeply for his church family," Duncan said.
In addressing his congregation upon his 34th anniversary Parker said, "I encourage you to practice introspection as you examine your heart, seek ancient wisdom from our elders, serve the Lord with creativity and joyfulness, pay attention to the details as you walk with Christ, build on a foundation of faith for the future and most importantly, call on Jesus! Seek Him in all that you do."
There will be a candlelight memorial service at the church on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 6pm. The eulogistic service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 12 noon, also at the church.
