By BRIAN HODGE

The board of directors for the Elmore County Economic Development Authority (ECEDA) has chosen Bart Mercer to be their new board chairman. Mercer represents the Town of Elmore on the ECEDA board. He previously served as Vice-Chairman, a position that has now been filled by Ray Smith who represents the Town of Deatsville. Mercer succeeds Lee Greer as chairman.

The board promoted longtime project manager Leisa Finley to the position of Executive Director following the departure of Barry Mask from the position earlier this year. Mask vacated his position at ECEDA to take a job with the Alabama Association of Realtors.

"We are looking forward to a positive future for Elmore County. The county is still growing and we want to assist to the best of our abilities in contributing to positive growth that the entire county can enjoy," Mercer said.

Mercer added that he believes ECEDA has the right team in place and the right motivation re-focus on its original goal of finding and developing economic development projects that will be beneficial to Elmore County and its constituent municipalities.
