Robbie Lusk (pictured), who represented District 1 (Millbrook) on the Elmore County Board of Education has become the second board member to resign in less than a year.
Like his former collegue Mary Ann McDonald, who resigned late last year, Lusk, a board member since 2008, has moved out of the his district and resigned from the board accordingly. Lusk will be moving to Baldwin County. Lusk's current term would have expired this year
Dr. Jeff Langham, Superintendent of the Elmore County School System said Lusk will be missed.
"To say goodbye to another highly effective board member in less than a year represents a tremendous loss to our board. Robbie provided great benefit to our board through his experiences as an attorney and his long career with the Alabama Bar Association. His keen legal mind helped our board and me time and time again to navigate critical issues here in our district.
"It has always brought us great pride around here that Robbie's legal acumen has made him a sought after speaker and presenter throughout the state. Through the years, he has regularly attended and presented countless professional development opportunities through the Alabama Association of School Boards (AASB). He has played a key role in our board receiving AASB's President's Award for the past several years," Langham said.
The Elmore County Board of Education will seek a replacement to appoint for the remainder of Lusk's term.
Anyone with an interest in serving as a School Board member for District 1 region and would like to be considered for the open Board position, please submit a letter of interest and resume no later than January 28th at 4:00 p.m. to Dr. Jeff Langham, Elmore County Board of Education, P. O. Box 817, Wetumpka, AL 36092. If you are not sure if you live in this district, please contact Judy Caton at 567-1207. Finalists for the Board position will be interviewed during a Work Session open to the public on February 3.
