1-30baincaindidateColonel (Ret) Dolas "Dale" Bain has announced his candidacy for Elmore County Board of Education, District One on the Republican ticket.

Bain and his family moved to the Millbrook area in 1974. Their two daughters (Patricia and Monica) are graduates of Stanhope Elmore High School. Colonel Bain has over 38 years of military service (22 years active duty and 16 years US Army Reserve). Prior to his military service, Dale worked for the Federal Government as a civilian. Since retiring back to Millbrook in 2004, Dale served 6 years on the Millbrook Planning Commission. He was a graduate of, Board of Director member, and Executive Director of Leadership Elmore County. He also serves as President of the Indian Lake Condominium Homeowners Association Board of Directors in Destin, Florida. Colonel Bain has served on various Boards and as a member of community organizations wherever his assignments have taken him.

Bain holds several academic diplomas -- an Associate Degree in Education, a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, and a Master's Degree in Public Administration. He is also a graduate of the US Army Command and Staff College; the US Air Force War College; the Federal Emergency Management Staff College; the US Army Personnel Management for Executives Course; and he holds a Certificate from the Association of Christian Counselors. While serving as Director of Officer Professional Development at Fort Dix, New Jersey, Colonel Bain oversaw the establishment of one of the US Army's first state-of-the art Distance Learning Centers. Dale is a strong advocate for education and a parents need to "personally" get involved in the education of their children from grade one to college. Some past leaders of Stanhope Elmore High School can attest to his personal involvement. Dale also firmly believes that the public education system belongs in the hands of local leaders -- from the kindergarten curriculum all the way to core curriculum requirements in high schools. If elected, Dale plans to assist the Superintendent and the Elmore County Board of Education in providing students in Elmore County the very best education in the State of Alabama.
