Millbrook City Council representative Joyce Loyd, of Ward 1 held her first ward meeting of the year recently at the Millbrook Civic Center. Loyd has held a ward meeting each quarter of 2013 and says interest in the meetings is growing among her constituents.

"This time our ward meeting was well attended, approximately 44 people were present," Loyd said.

Mayor Al Kelley gave updates on city projects and ordinances and Chief P.K. Johnson of the Millbrook Police Department spoke of safety in the city.

Loyd said it appears to her that Millbrook residents, not just those in Ward 1, are giving her positive feedback on ward meetings as informal, but informative gatherings.

"I discussed up coming projects to include a possible park in the Sandtown area. I will have an upcoming townhall meeting in that area to solicit feedback from the community. Also we discussed having a Community Health Fair to promote awareness. These two projects are top on my list.

Loyd also says shes has ideas about providing senior transportation within the city in the future.

"It is just an idea at this juncture but I will work on it becoming a relevant topic," Loyd said.

Loyd added her next ward meeting will be held in April
