Edgewood Academy's Alex Dettmar and Trey Gothard have signed to play football at Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas.

Dettmar, and outstanding place kicker, was a major asset to the Wildcats in their state title bid in 2013. Dettmar was an invitee to the Down Under Bowl played in Australia, was an All-State kicker and finished second in the state in kick scoring.

Gothard added plenty of beef to the defensive line of the Wildcats that kept opponents from the Edgewood end zone. Gothard made several key plays and fumble recoveries during the season. Gothard was a player in the AISA East-West game.

"These players played a major role in our state championship season. They provided the leadership and worked diligently to assure our victories. I feel sure they will succeed in college and in the game of life," Edgewood coach Bobby Carr said.
