All five contestants were beaming with enthusiasm at the inaugural Miss Millbrook Pageant hosted by the Millbrook Civic Club. But only one Miss Millbrook could be crowned and that title was awarded to Morgan Ashley Angelette. She is a junior at Edgewood Academy High School. She is a member of the student government, drama and art club. She is a member of the Alabama Independent School Association All State Drama cast. Morgan is captain of the Edgewood Academy cheer squad and a Universal Cheerleading Association All American Cheerleader.
Rounding out the contestants onstage were: Lori Lee Carnes, Natalie Jane Garner, Bobbi Breanne Arnold and Elizabeth Dayle Martin. Each girl was asked an interview question, chosen randomly from a set.
Bobbi Breanne Arnold was awarded the titles of First Runner Up and the People's Choice Award - an award given as a result of an audience participation. She is a senior at Chapman Academy.
A tie between Angelette and Arnold resulted after the first tabulation of the judges, an occurence Emcee Bill Roberts said no one was expecting.
Natalie Jane Garner was awarded the title of Miss Photogenic. She is a senior at Edgewood Academy.

The Miss Millbrook Pageant was open to local 10-12 grade girls who either lived in Millbrook or attend a school in Millbrook. Club member Gwen Story admits that the club wishes that more than five girls had participated this year, but said she and the other club members were pleased.
"We learned some lessons on what to do and what not to do in the future. So this has been a positive learning experience if nothing else," Story said.
Story added that the group is considering moving the event to the Millbrook Theatre (former Robinson Springs Elementary auditorium) for next year to take advantage of more 'backstage' area.
The Millbrook Civic Club typically holds a major fundraiser around early March each year. The funds raised help to support local school libraries, the Millbrook W.E.L.C.O.M.E. center and many other programs and activites supported by the club.
"We want to thank our contestants and their family and friends and our sponsors for participating in the Miss Millbrook pageant. This month the Millbrook Civic Club was able to donate $1,400 to our four local public schools, fire department and library because of our community's support," said Jane Burgett of the Millbrook Civic Club.
Gwen Story added, "The club also gives to W.E.L.C.O.M.E., Inc., and a $1,000 textbook scholarship to a graduating high school senior. Gwen invites you to join Millbrook Civic Club and participate in their fun community endeavors. If you want to join, contact Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce for more information.
