The Millbrook Community Players will bring a classic American story, "Grease," to the stage at the Millbrook Theatre beginning July 10, 2014.
"Grease" is a classic American hit. Head 'greaser' Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their "Summer Nights" as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as "Greased Lightnin," "It's Raining on Prom Night," and "Alone at the Drive-In Movie."
Summer musicals are typically the biggest hits for the Millbrook Community Players and they have pulled out all the stops to make a big splash with "Grease." Director A. John Collier says "Grease" is shapeing up to be one of the Players' best musical productions. For some this will be a trip down memory lane recalling an era of muscle cars, leather, fast times and good music, Collier says. No matter if you are and old greaser or a fresh face this show promises to entertain. Performances will be held July 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26 at 7:30 pm with a special matinee on July 20 at 2:00 pm at the Millbrook Theatre 5720 Main Street, Millbrook. For tickets or other info visit www.millbrooktheatre.com or call (334) 782-7317. Tickets are $10.00 in advance, $12.00 day of show.
In addition to this week's opening of "Grease," directed by A. John Collier, the stage at the Millbrook Theatre will be filled with activity in the coming month.
An American classic, "Grease" opens this week July 10 at 7:30pm. This is the Millbrook Community Players' big summertime musical for the 2014 season. Director A. John Collier says that audiences will not be disappointed.
"We have set the bar pretty high over the last few years with big productions of 'South Pacific,' 'Oklahoma,' and 'Annie.' So we have a lot to live up to, but I am sure audiences will love our production of 'Grease,'" Collier said.
"Grease" will run on July 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26 at 7:30 pm with a matinee on July 20 at 2:00 pm. Tickets available by calling 334-782-7317 or the website at www.millbrooktheatre.com
The Millbrook Community Players will hold auditions for "Harvey" on July 27 at 3pm and July 28th at 7pm.
When Elwood P. Dowd starts to introduce his imaginary friend, Harvey, a six-and-a-half-foot rabbit, to guests at a society party, his sister, Veta, has seen as much of his eccentric behavior as she can tolerate. She decides to have him committed to a sanitarium to spare her daughter, Myrtle Mae, and their family from future embarrassment.
Harvey will be directed by Susan Chain and will run September 25, 26, 27, October 2, 3, 4 at 7:30 p.m. and September 28 at 2:00 p.m.
Last year MCP along with Tina Marie presented "A Tribute to Patsy Cline." Marie will return to the stage at the Millbrook Theatre again next month for another tribute to the late Cline.
Patsy Cline defined the sound for ladies in country music and fans of her music will surely enjoy this tribute on August 8 and 9 at 7:30 and August 10 at 2pm.
