Randy Naylor is no stranger to Coosada Baptist Church. Virtually everyone in the sanctuary last Sunday knows Randy as a good-natured friendly man. Of course virtually everyone in the sanctuary that knows Randy also gave him some friendly guff for his decison to become a minister. Even Senior Pastor Dr. Jim Graham, during his address quipped, "This is a day many of you thought would never come."
Being a good sport, who admits to earning some of that friendly ribbing by dishing out much of his own, Naylor took it all in stride and expressed his appreciation that his church family seems willing to honor and support him in his new role.
Gene Jones, a lifelong member of Coosada Baptist Church gave remarks during Naylor's ordination. Jones said he remembered when Randy and his family moved to the area and began attending the church when Randy was just six years old. Naylor, celebrated his 59th birthday on Sunday the same day of his ordination.
"Randy started in our little people's choir. As many of you know my wife, Norma, was choir leader back then. Randy stayed with it and enjoyed the choir and as he got older he moved up to the big choir," Jones said.
Graham called on Naylor to lead and the church to follow and support him in his role as Senior Adult Pastor.
As the name suggests Naylor will focus on the pastoral needs of the church's senior citizens especially pastoral visits to hospitals.
Naylor says ordination to the ministry is something he has wanted for a long time, and he looks forward to serving his church family in his new job.

Tech and Louisville all lost. As expected Bama steamrolled over So. Miss and Auburn had the week off.Read more...
