Cook, Mr. Willie Brown, age 68, a resident of Wetumpka, AL passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2014. Funeral services were held on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home with Rev. Psalmonds officiating. The interment followed at Brookside Memorial Gardens. Mr. Cook is survived by his wife Hattie Mae Cook of Wetumpka, AL, daughters Nyaitiyo Cook of Boston, Mass, Akosua Cook of Chattanooga, TN, sons William Cook, Dywane Cook, Khalid Cook all of Boston, Mass, mother Mary C. Cook of Wetumpka, AL, brothers John Cook, Jr., and Edward Cook both of Wetumpka, AL, and four grandchildren. Brookside Funeral Home of Millbrook, AL directing.
Robinson, Mrs. Lana Marie age 62, a resident of Wetumpka, AL passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at her residence. Memorial services were held on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home with Dr. Nathan Attwood officiating. Lana is survived by her daughter Trina Perry (Hubert) of Wetumpka, AL, son Robert Robinson of Milwaukee, OR, sister Ann Hillman of Portland, OR, brothers Joe Wilson of CA, Thad Ouimette of Portland, OR, grandchildren Sara Perry, Emily Perry and Robert Robinson, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family received friends from 10:30-11:00 a.m at the funeral home. Brookside Funeral Home of Millbrook, AL directing.
Brown, Mr. Jonathan Dallas age 65, a resident of Eclectic, AL passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Jackson's Hospital. Memorial services were held on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Gaylord officiating. The interment followed at Sheppard Cemetery in Eclectic, AL. Mr. Brown served in the United States Navy and retired from the Army Corp of Engineers. He is survived by his daughters Emily Chambless of Deatsville, AL, Laura Green (William) of Luverne, AL, son Dallas Brown (Amy) of Tallassee, AL, brother Billy Brown (Betty) of Eclectic, AL, and four grandchildren. The family received friends on Monday, August 18, 2014 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Brookside Funeral Home of Millbrook, AL directing.
Dismukes, Reverend William Nicoles, "Nic", 82 of Millbrook, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014. Visitation was held at 10:00 AM, August 13 at Ridout's Prattville Chapel followed by his funeral service at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Travis Coleman and Pastor Dave Burns officiating. Burial followed in the Prattville Memorial Gardens cemetery. The Reverend Dismukes was born in Elmore County on September 14, 1931 to the late Aubrey Cortez Dismukes and Issalee Dix Dismukes. He was a farmer and spent many years as an agricultural consultant in the Autauga, Dallas and Lowndes County areas. He also was called to the ministry and served as pastor for the Pratt Court and Billingsley Baptist Churches for a number of years. In 2011 he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Billie Jean, and a son Derek Dismukes in 1963. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Debby and Ron Rainer of Birmingham, Karen and Roy Grimes of Prattville; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Nita Dismukes of Millbrook; two brothers, Albert Dismukes of Ft. Walton Beach and Dan Dismukes of Prattville; ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other close family members. Active pallbearers were Adam Parker, Ryan Rainer, Clay Rainer, Neal Cox, Jay Brothers and Will Dismukes. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Vinson, David Green and the Men's Sunday School Class of the Prattville First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alabama Baptist Children's Home, PO Box 361767, Birmingham, AL 35236.
Boulware, Winston Warren, 69, a resident of Millbrook, AL, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 15, 2014. Funeral services were held on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Prattville Memorial with Dr. Jay Wolf, Reverend Kenny Hoomes, and Reverend Robert McMicken officiating. Burial followed in Prattville Memory Gardens with Prattville Memorial directing. Mr. Boulware was owner and operator of Wireless Products for the life of the business. He was a lover of music, owner and founder of DixieRadio.net, and Big Wheel Recording Studio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur "Bill" and Maurine Boulware; sister, Diane Mehaffey. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Sandra Sims Boulware; daughter, Shellee Boulware (Will) Robbins; three grandchildren, Kilee, Aiden, and Mac Robbins; mother-in-law, Sara R. Sims; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Hank Williams Sr. Museum in Montgomery, AL or to the Caring Center at First Baptist Church of Montgomery.
Supreme Court Justice concerned about civics education

A few weeks ago Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jim Main (pictured right) spoke to students at the Jones School of Law at Faulkner University. In addition to reviewing the diversity of the Alabama Supreme Court, Main stressed the importance of civics education in our schools and the importance of promoting civics by the soon to be lawyers.Read more...
