By Elizabeth Roy
It’s summer vacation and you want to find something for your children
to do that’s fun and teaches them about the Lord. Vacation Bible
School, VBS for short, is the perfect solution to that.
Many churches around town offer a program for children that will be
both very entertaining and very educational.
Grace Community Church located on 3515 Highway 14, is having their
VBS from June 10 to June-15. Trading Places is this year’s theme. The children
will learn about other countries such as Kenya, China, Poland, Brazil and
Mexico. During the lessons about the countries there will music, crafts,
games, and snacks based on the country of that day. Grace Community wants
to teach children that Jesus is the main thing. Other lessons include bravery.
For more information their number is 285-4655.
New Life Christian Center located on 4230 Highway14. will be
having their vacation Bible School from June 13 to June15. The theme
for their VBS is Mission Impossible. The children train as “special agents”
by listening to Bible stories and “talk shows” that feature Bible characters.
At the end they have a game show to review what they had learned titled,
“Are You Smarter Than a Special Agent.” For more information
call 285-6996.
Victory Baptist Church is holding their VBS from June 11 to June 15
at 3151 Highway 14. The overall theme this year is Wild West Witnessing.
Each day also has a theme such as, daily praise, prayer, share, cheer and
bread. The children will be making crafts, such as old fashion lanterns,
go on a hay ride, have refreshments and play games. For information
contact 285-5082.
All day Saturday, June 23, Church of the Nazarene, located at 3251
Browns Road, is holding its VBS. The theme is “Jesus by the Sea of
Galilee” where the children go back in time to see what it was like to
hear Jesus teaching by the sea. There will be crafts and songs related
to the theme. For information call 285-7509.
