Area fishermen take home prizes

More than 451 pounds of catfish were caught during Harry’s on the River annual Catfish Rodeo held June 9-10.
The winning team, the Coosa River Warriors, took home $400 with their haul of 229 pounds of catfish.
Second place went to the Baiters, who won $140 and hauled in 62 pounds of catfish.
The Warriors also won first place for the biggest fish, which was just over 25 pounds and brought the team $210. The smallest fish, weighing just two ounces, was awarded to the Party Barge Team and netted them $20.
Team members for the Warriors included Tommy Swearengin, Bucky Chalker and Dink Jones. Team members for the Baiters included Dr. Mel Stephens, Curtis Henry and John Henry.
